This well-planned 9 Nights & 10 Days Kerala itinerary takes you through the cultural charm of Kochi, the scenic tea-covered hills of Munnar, the wildlife-rich forests of Thekkady, and the tranquil backwaters of Alleppey. The journey combines guided sightseeing, nature experiences, cultural performances, and relaxing leisure time. DAY 1
Arrival – Cochin International Airport
Welcome to Kochi, one of Kerala’s most fascinating cities and proudly featured in National Geographic Traveller’s “50 Greatest Places of a Lifetime”. Upon arrival at Cochin International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our Perfect Holidays representative, who will assist and escort you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure, allowing you to relax and unwind at your own pace.
DAY 2
Cochin to Munnar (Approx. 4 Hours Drive)
This morning, proceed for a sightseeing tour deep into the heart of magnificent Kochi, a city influenced by Dutch, British, French, and Portuguese architecture. Visit Fort Cochin, the centuries-old historic seaport, Vasco Da Gama Square, and the Santa Cruz Basilica, followed by St. Francis Church, one of India’s oldest European churches and the original burial site of Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama.

Continue to the VOC Gate, Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, and Mattancherry Palace, famous for its intricate murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana and Puranic legends. You will also witness the unique local fishing method using massive Chinese fishing nets, locally known as Cheenavalas.

Post lunch, depart for Munnar. The word “Munnar” means three rivers, as the mountain streams Madurapuzha, Nallathanni, and Kundala converge here. During British rule, Munnar served as a summer retreat for government officials. Its natural beauty, tranquility, and pleasant climate throughout the year make it a popular tourist destination. Surrounded by around 30 tea plantations, the hills, lakes, forests, and endless tea estates resemble a vast green carpet.

DAY 3
Munnar Sightseeing
Enjoy a full day of sightseeing in Munnar, beginning with a visit to the Rajamalai Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can spot mountain goats. Proceed to the scenic Kannan Devan Hills, offering panoramic views of the Munnar tea estates and the lake.

After lunch, continue to Mattupetty, with a rare chance of spotting herds of wild elephants en route to Mattupetty Dam. Later, visit the Tea Museum to explore photographs and machinery from the evolution of the tea industry, including the original tea roller, the Rotovane, and the Pelton Wheel.

DAY 4
Munnar to Thekkady (Approx. 3 Hours Drive)
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Thekkady, known as the spice capital of Kerala. Check in to your hotel on arrival. En route, explore the scenic surroundings of Thekkady. The afternoon is free for leisure, and you may stroll through the spice markets of Kumily Village. Do leave some space in your luggage for aromatic cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and mace.

In the evening, experience a traditional Kathakali performance, a classical art form combining dance, music, drama, elaborate costumes, and mythological stories. You will also witness Kalaripayattu, one of the oldest martial art forms, known for its agile movements and rhythmic sounds of slashing swords. After enjoying the Kathakali and martial arts show, return to the hotel.

DAY 5
Explore Thekkady
After breakfast at the hotel, step out for a blissful day amidst nature and wildlife. Visit the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, set amid dense forests and known for thrilling nature walks. Enjoy boating on Periyar Lake, where you may spot various species of animals while admiring the natural beauty of Thekkady.

Later, visit the Tribal Heritage Museum, which showcases artifacts representing the culture, attire, rituals, and lifestyle of the Mannan tribal settlement. You may also explore the spice markets of Kumily Village and purchase fresh aromatic spices such as cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and mace.

DAY 6
Thekkady to Alleppey Houseboat (Approx. 4 Hours Drive)
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and proceed to Alleppey to experience a memorable cruise through Kerala’s iconic backwaters. Alleppey is the most popular backwater cruising destination in Kerala and is often referred to as the “Venice of the East.” Kerala proudly earns its title as ‘God’s Own Country’ due to its captivating charm and natural beauty.

Board your comfortable and luxurious houseboat, which will cruise past paddy fields and rows of swaying coconut trees. Relish traditional Kerala cuisine prepared onboard using rich local spices and flavors. Day 7
Alleppey Houseboat to Backwater Resort in Alleppey
After a mesmerizing stay on the houseboat, check out and proceed to a backwater resort in Alleppey, famously known as the “Venice of the East.” Alleppey features a vast network of beaches, lakes, lagoons, and freshwater rivers. It is an important backwater destination attracting thousands of international tourists every year and is also known for boat races, beaches, marine products, and the coir industry. Alleppey connects Kumarakom and Kochi through an extensive lake system.

Alleppey – Kumarakom – Alleppey
