After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, begin your day with a scenic drive to Doddabetta Peak, the highest summit in the Nilgiris at 2,637 meters. Visit the Telescope House for panoramic views of the surrounding valleys, forests, and the charming town of Ooty. It is an ideal spot for photography and nature enthusiasts.
Next, head down to the Government Botanical Garden, a beautifully maintained 55-acre expanse established in 1848. Stroll through terraced lawns, admire the vibrant seasonal blooms, rare orchids, and don’t miss the highlight which is an ancient fossilized tree believed to be over 20 million years old.
After lunch, proceed towards the Toda tribal villages, located approximately 15 km from Ooty. Experience a glimpse into the unique lifestyle of the Toda community, known for their distinctive barrel-shaped huts, traditional attire, and centuries-old buffalo herding culture. Interact with the locals and learn about their customs, crafts, and heritage.
End the day with a visit to the Tribal Museum, which houses an interesting collection of artefacts, traditional tools, handicrafts, and replica Toda murals. The museum offers rich insights into the lives, art forms, and history of the indigenous tribes of the Nilgiris.
